The Acquisition teams are going to Birmingham!

Next week, Neiloufar Family, Natalia Durus, and Adrienne Ouafo will attend the Residential Week in Multilingualism hosted by The MOSAIC Centre for Research on Multilingualism at the University of Birmingham. During this 5-day course, they will attend sessions on different aspects of and approaches to multilingualism, as well as workshops where they’ll have a chance to discuss their data.

For the poster session, Natalia and Neiloufar will be presenting their new data for the first time. They have been recording and have started transcribing classroom based interaction of multilingual children (13-14 year olds) in an English class at the European School in Luxembourg.

Adrienne will be presenting emerging elements and tools she will be using and discussing for her doctoral research. She has been compiling data on why and how immigrants in Luxembourg decide to learn Luxembourgish when they already have appropriate linguistic resources for everyday activities (e.g. French, German, or English).

Keep your eyes on the blog, we’ll be giving daily updates from the UK!

[Funding for this trip was made possible by the FNR AM2b for Neiloufar Family, via the AFR doctoral scheme for Adrienne Ouafo, and through the FUNDAmental ENGlish Project for Natalia Durus]
