Congratulations: Outstanding Dissertation Award from AERA for Chris Siry

Christina Siry, post-doc on the CODISCILE-A project, has been awarded the 2010 Outstanding Dissertation Award from Division K of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). The AERA is an international professional organization, with over 25,000 members, whose primary goal is to advance educational research and its practical applications.  This award recognizes a dissertation of exemplary conceptual, methodological, and literary quality on an important topic in teaching and teacher education. Christina’s dissertation was titled “Fostering solidarity and transforming identities: A collaborative approach to elementary science teacher education” and was completed towards her Ph.D. from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York.  The selection committee was unanimous in their choice of her work for this award, which will be presented on the 1st of May 2010 at the AERA annual meeting in Denver, Colorado.
