The Dica team is participating in the 3d workshop of the Quicker steps project that takes place at at the Pädagogische Hochschule Oberösterreich, in Linz from Monday April 22 to Friday April 27, 2012. On Tuesday, April 24, an open workshop is organized with the local collaborators of the Pädagogische Hochschule about the topic of “Teachers Prof Charles Max will present the paper “Participatory sensing: sharing, life, interconnecting communities” as contribution of the SnT-initiated workshop Smart Living with mixed reality at the “Business Meets Research” Event 2012. The workshops at BMR are designed to promote discussion and exchange between leading R&D and innovation actors. The themes of the different workshops are related to the “Luxembourg Cluster Initiative”: BioHealth, EcoInnovation, ICT, Materials Charles Max presented a paper about ITE with a specific focus on “Educating teacher as experts in learning: A chat perspective on transforming ITE” at the AERA 2012 annual meeting in Vancouver (BC). This paper was part of the international symposium ‘Cultural-Historical approaches to teacher education:Examining Collaboration, Expertise, and Mentoring in Teacher Learning’ convened by The project “Language Learning and Social Media: 6 key dialogues”(LS6) was offered the possibility of disseminating its innovative approach and ongoing work in the field of language learning at a workshop the Euproean Commission is organising at Expolangues 2012. Research workshop - Learning in multilingual contexts, 31.8.-2.9.2011 Professors Charles Max and Gudrun Ziegler of University of Luxembourg hosted DICA-lab’s research workshop on “Learning in multilingual contexts” which took place on Campus Walferdange, August 31 – September 2, 2011. The twenty participants – of University of Kaiserslautern, Northeastern University, Luxembourg University and European School (Luxembourg) Gudrun Ziegler and Marnie Ludwig are presenting a paper based on data from the FundaLUX project at the 12th International Congress for the Study of Child Language at the UQAM- Université du Québec à Montréal Canada (July 19 to 23, 2011). Exploring the impact of language norms on second language development, the current paper investigates Aachen/Luxembourg/Bremen, June 22, 2011 The team working with Ass.-Prof. Gudrun Ziegler on multilingual and multimodal interactions in complex engineering processes received this year’s best paper award at the International Conference on Concurrent Enterprising, held in Aachen from 20-22 June, 2011 (http://www.ice-conference.org/). The successful paper was selected among 170 papers and deals with critical instances within Claudia Albanese, Simina Petraru, Jun Song, Mikkel Stroerup and Katerina Zourou were invited to the first-ever EU-Chine Multilingual conference, May 19, in Brussels. The presentation by Claudia, Katerina and Mikkel was very successful and the Head of Unit Multilingualism of the European Commission warmly congratulated the team for their lively and highly interactive contribution.
