Katerina is a post-doctoral researcher in the field of computer supported collaborative language learning at the University of Luxembourg.
Her research topics involve effects of computer mediation in foreign language education as well as telecollaborative practices online. Research publications are available here.
Working in multicultural teams in France, Germany, Belgium, Austria and Greece, she provides consultation on educational issues to the European Commission in Brussels.
Current projects
- co-edited (with Françoise Demaizière) a special issue of the peer-reviewed scientific journal Alsic. Topic: “social media and language learning: (r)evolution?” The issue is now online.
- Co-editing, with Fred Dervin and Marie-Noëlle Lamy, a book on Social networking for language education (preliminary title). Palgrave Macmillan (to appear in December 2012).
- Project manager of the EU-funded network “language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues”http://www.elearningeuropa.info/languagelearning (project coordinator: Prof. Charles Max).
- Research on web 2.0 language learning communities. More information here.
- Maintance of two rapidly evolving Twitter accounts, @web2LLP and @languages_web2 (the latter with Tatiana Codreanu).
Projects accomplished recently:
- sept. 2008-sept. 2010: Post-doctoral fellowship granted by the Fonds National de la Recherche, FNR, Luxembourg. Topic: ” Development of professional skills through telecollaboration in higher education settings (Pro-skills)”, under the supervision of Ass.-Prof. Gudrun Ziegler and Charles Max.
- May 2010: Research project on tellecollaborative practices online. Joint research activity with Meei-Ling Liaw, Professor at the National Taichung University. Scientific stay of three weeks in Taiwan in May 2010, in the framework of my AFR grant by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg. Travel and subsistence expenses covered by a fellowship by the National Science Council, Taiwan.
