Metaphilosophy as an Integrative Theory
The intellectual field has been cleared by the postmodern storm. The previous grand theories are no longer available or have been heavily questioned. In the past ten years the different sciences – not only quantum physics – have come up with new sub-theories. New interconnections between research fields have been discovered. An new philosophical scope has been established. The new metaphilosophy did not come from nowhere, its roots go back deep into the past. However, according to the pattern of scientific paradigm change, the attempts at integrative big theories occurred rather abruptly. Therefore, metatheory crosses boundaries, but not only boundaries between disciplines. It crosses all the precedent boundarires. It is not a simple interdisciplinary theory, rather it is obliged to redefine science.
Metatheory and/or metaphilosophy is a new paradigm. Metatheory integrates all the previous achievements of science, art and religious thinking, and joins them on a higher level. It corresponds to a new kind of thinking and a new science, not just a normal science nor a post-normal science. Metatheory couples with a highly expanded theory of knowledge. It represents a new approach, a new logic, a new methodology and a new scientific framework, , expanded even beyond science, all at the same time. Metatheory provides a new theory about the whole, the parts and the relationship between them. Its essence is to reflect reality with a supra-theory born from sub-metatheories, on a higher level of abstraction as known before. This leads us to an unconventional global and intellectual state of mind.
Metatheory can be introduces through a unified model called “Möbius-band bow”. It represents five levels of reality or five holons and every single level of reality represents a “Möbius-band”. The five consciousness/reality levels are the following:
Holon 1. Internal consciousness/unconsciousness, divine ego, or the self-self (the internal „infinity”).
Holon 2. The personal ego (personal, external, social ego), the physical body, nervous system, mind, etc.
Holon 3. Physical-material and natural reality, social reality, collective consciousness.
Holon 4. Personal and collective consciousness, wisdom, personal knowledge, etc.
Holon 5. Personal post-consciousness, collective post-consciousness, transcendental realities, spiritual realities/consciousness.
Through such a model matter and consciousness, existence and spirit, physics and metaphysics, worldly life and transcendental life, the “higher” and the “lower”, the inside and the outside are distinguished while being considered in conjunction. If these aspects of reality are contained and related within one single complex framework, then metatheory is the chance for an entire world philosophy. Of course, different types of sciences and post-sciences (or ways of thinking) belong to each level of reality/cosnciousness of this multi-level “Möbius-band”.
Such a new metatheory necessarily brings up – among others – a new theory of matter and consciousness, i.e. a new theory of reality and non-reality. It also inspires new theories of globalization, economy and democracy.
