Alexander is Co-Founder of TRANS4M Four World Center for Social Innovation, Geneva, Switzerland, focusing on “education for transformation” and on “research for innovation”. TRANS4M, among others, offers, in partnership with local universities, most innovative educational programmes (Masters and Doctoral Programmes) on Social and Economic Transformation and Social Innovation and is currently mainly active in South Africa, Middle East (Jordan and Oman), USA, UK and Switzerland. Increasingly, TRANS4M assists universities – through its innovative curricula and education-and-research processes – to become centers for societal renewal within their respective societies. Together with Ronnie Lessem, he is Series Editor of a Gower-Ashgate book series on “Transformation and Innovation”, to which they jointly contributed “Transformation Management: Towards the Integral Enterprise”, “Integral Research and Innovation” as well as (forthcoming) “Integral Economics”.
Alexander is also Founding Partner of CELL Center of Excellence for Leadership and Learning, a consultancy network focusing on the innovative leadership, design and transformation of organisations. Prior to CELL, he had founded and built up one of the leading special interest publishing houses in Singapore.
Alexander studied economics, business administration, social sciences and law at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he also did a doctorate on leadership (“Führungspersönlichkeit”). He lectures at St. Gallen on “Interdisciplinary Problem Solving” as well as at various other universities. Schieffer is member of the Society for Organizational Learning and the World Business Academy. In the past 10 years he has published a large variety of articles and books on Leadership, Transformation as well as on Research and has developed an organisational transformation tool called ‘Semantic Mapping’ as well as a future oriented approach towards leadership called ‘Co-Creative Leadership’.
